Thong Sala Food Court

7 stalls

The Soup Stall

The broth is built around your order β€” noodles, chicken or pork wonton

At the entrance to the food court, opposite the clothes stalls: you stand at the pot and put your own bowl together β€” noodles, chicken, beef, shredded meat, wonton or pork dumplings β€” and the broth is built around whatever you asked for. The tom yum sits on a vegetarian base, and the meat goes in only for those who want it. On the side you can add a bag of crispy pork, and finish with a fried banana. Skip the meatballs, and anyone arriving at the end of the day may find too much fat in the broth.

The Salad Bar

You build the salad yourself, and the mild sesame dressing is the star

You work along the spread of toppings and build a bowl to suit your mood, including a fully vegan one. The dressings are the less steady part β€” the mild sesame one stands up on its own, the rest not always. It travels as takeaway too, which makes it a sensible answer to an evening in front of the air conditioning at home.

The Schnitzel Stall

The crispest, freshest schnitzel in the food court

Schnitzel that comes out crisp and fresh β€” that is what this stall does well. You find it next to the samosa stall, in the row facing the juice stall.

The Sandwich Stall

A French baguette baked here fresh every day, and the sandwich it becomes

The bread is the story: a French baguette she bakes herself, fresh every day, and the sandwiches that come out of it are among the tastiest around. These are not pre-made rolls waiting on a shelf. Her stall is in the same row as Segal, opposite Lebanese Bites.

Bite Me

Perfect cookies and nothing else β€” the food court's newest stall

The cookies here are perfect, and that is the only reason to stop. The stall opened recently, opposite Segal.

The Thai Stall by the Salad Bar

Pad krapow and panang curry both come out excellent β€” start with either

The Thai woman behind the counter turns out two dishes that work especially well: the pad krapow and the panang curry. The stall is immediately to the left of the salad bar.

Florentin Pizza

Enormous slices that taste like Israeli pizza, not Italian

The slices here are enormous, and the flavour lands far closer to Israeli pizza than to anything Italian. It is excellent pizza, with no reservations. A good falafel stall faces it, which is also how you know you have arrived.
